‘CINEMA FANTASTIQUE’
Sunday 1 June, 3:00pm The Joan, Penrith Heroes, myths and legends abound as PSO presents a cinema epic of four complete film suites, featuring some of the greatest music from the biggest blockbusters of all time. Penrith City Choir forms part of the Penrith Symphony Orchestra’s Festival Chorus, singing music from John William’s Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Howard Shore’s Lord of the Rings Suite. The Blackheath Choir Festival is not a competition - it's all about the music! https://blackheathchoirfestival.org/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ‘REMEMBRANCE DAY’ Sunday 9 November, 3:00pm St Finbar’s Church, Levy Street, Glenbrook The choral suite from Karl Jenkins enduringly popular work The Armed Man – A Mass for Peace forms the centerpiece of this very special concert to mark Remembrance Day. The concert also features conductor Rowen Fox’s own composition All This is Ended, which was commissioned in 2018 as a part of the Armistice Centenary commemoration, and is dedicated to the memory of all those, civilian and military, who lost their lives in the Great War. Joining the choir is Sydney based soprano soloist Samanta Lestavel, and local violinist Rebecca Daniel, accompanied by Heather Moen Boyd on St Finbar’s organ. The organ was built in Plymouth in the 1880s then moved to Glenbrook in 1995 where it has been lovingly restored and redecorated. Penrith City Choir forms part of the PSO Festival Chorus. PSO is joined by Penrith Youth Orchestra and Glenbrook Ballet Theatre to celebrate the joy of the festive season, with a selection of carols, popular favourites and orchestral delights.
