Penrith City Youth Choir 2023

PCYC is led by Musical Director, Lucy McAlary and is mentored by PCC (Adult choir). The choir works
on a project basis in close collaboration with the both children’s and adult choirs.

Youth Choir members are invited to sing with the adult chorus in TWO performances in 2023:

Fauré ‘Requiem’ at St Finbar’s Catholic Church, Glenbrook

Composed in the late 1880s, Fauré’s setting of the Requiem Mass is one of his most beloved works.
With its ethereal beauty and elegant vocal writing this choral masterpiece is presented in a program
of sacred French music. Conducted by Lucy McAlary and accompanied by Titus Grenyer on St
Finbar’s beautiful organ which was shipped from Plymouth and originally installed in Sydney’s St
Peter’s Anglican Church in 1881.

PCYC members need to attend at least FOUR of these choral rehearsals:

Wednesdays 9, 16, 23 and 30 August 6, 13, 20 September 7.30 – 8.30pm at Glenbrook Baptist
Church

THREE final rehearsals are compulsory:
Wednesday 11 October 7.30 – 8.30pm at Glenbrook Baptist Church
Wednesday 18 October 7.30 – 8.30pm at Glenbrook Baptist Church
Friday 20 October 7.30 – 9.30pm at St Finbar’s Church with Titus Grenyer, organ

Performance - Sunday 22 October, 3.00 – 4.00pm at St Finbar’s Catholic Church with sound-check

‘Music and Readings for Christmas’ at St Finbar’s Catholic Church, Glenbrook

Directed by Robert Ampt, recently retired from his post as Sydney Town Hall organist, other
performers include Penrith Symphony Brass, harp, organ, vocal soloists. A highly anticipated
performance which attracts a full house.

The combined choir rehearsals are compulsory:

Wednesday 6 December 7.30 – 9.30pm
Friday 8 December 7.30 – 9.30pm
Performance - Sunday 10 December, 7.30pm at St Finbar’s Catholic Church with rehearsal at 4.00pm

Musical scores will be provided. The participation fee is $25 per project.
